When you choose to live in an illegal relationship instead of a legal one (marriage), you have no rights to support or his assets in Georgia. That is a choice you unfortunately made 20 years ago. You certainly can take you own personal items with you, but you have learned, sadly, why it is always a foolish mistake to live with someone outside of marriage.
There is one small (possible) ray of hope. Georgia at one point recognized common law marriage (if created before 1/1/97). If prior to that time, you and he did things to hold yourself out as married (like filing joint tax returns, introducing yourself as spouses, being on each other's health plans, etc) and can prove that, you can file for divorce, seek alimony, seek a division of property, and other relief. Consult with a lawyer about this.
