Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia
In the past my husban has been physically and verbally abusive to me and our 9 month old child. I am also almost 8 months pregnaunt with our second child. About 2 months ago he decided that he didnt want to be with me anymore and left us for another women and claiming that he was going to pay me $100 a week for child support and that was the only income that I would have coming in. I only received $180 total from him in 2 months. I am unable to get a job right now because I am developing preeclampsia with my pregnauncy. I would like to know two things. My lawyer tells me that we cannot get a divorce until my second child is born, but how do I get the money I need from him to support us? What are the requirements for receiving spousal support? Since he has been violent in the past, what are the requirements for him to only receive visitation rights after the divorce? Is there anything that you recommend that I should do in the mean time?

Talk to your lawyer. You can usually seek a divorce during the pregnancy. And if child support is an immediate problem, certainly he has discussed with you the possibility of filing a support case now with the state. None of us know the details your lawyer does, so if he has advised you differently, he likely has a reason. Ask him.
You should discuss these questions with your attorney. You hired the person to represent you and answer your questions.
