Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia
During my pregnancy and at the time of my now 2 yr old daughter's birth I was dating a guy, not her father. The guy, whom Im no longer seeing, signed her birth certificate. Shortly after, our elationship ended and he stopped providing for my daughter slowly and then completely. Her real father was always aware of her presence and has been helping only recently. But now my ex, who signed her birth certificate, filed a child support claim on himself to establish paternity and possible visitation rights. Would I be able to pursue back payments from him since he is still legally her father? Or would her biological father have to pay once paternity is proven?

You need to see a lawyer to discuss these issues. In that you and the non-dad committed a crime in falsifying the birth certificate, that fact needs to be factored into the discussion. It will probably take multiple DNA tests and some significant legal fees to correct all this. You do need a lawyer ASAP.
How about you first find out who the real father is, and then resolve custody and support issues with the correct person? If the guy you dated is not the real father, why would you want to pursue anything against him (other than defending claims he may bring)? You already have problems as discussed in the other response. Why make things worse by going after someone who is not really the father.
