Purchasing a house

My father-in-law is financing a piece of property for my husband and me. What are my rights if my husband decides he wants a divorce?

It all depends on what is drawn up. The time to do this is BEFORE you do the transaction. Speak with a lawyer to do things right.

You should ASAP consult with a local attorney. He/she needs to look into the proposed financing documents as well as how your deed is structured. He/she should also advise you as to a "buy out" agreement in the case of a divorce.
