Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

I received a summons for a divorce from my wife and in the divorce she is requesting that sole legal and physical custody of the children. In the summons she mentions domestic violence between us within our marriage and she stated that it took place in the presence of the kids which is not at all true. I'm not contesting the divorce but I would love to have joint custody of my sons. Please give me a call with any advise or help that you can give me on custody of my kids

You are writing to an internet forum, not a law firm. If you want to retain a lawyer, and you certainly should, you need to contact lawyers in your area who handle these cases.

You are in a contested divorce involving children. You needed a lawyer the day you received the summons and you will face a disaster unless you retaiun counsel in a timely fashion. You urgently need to log off the computer, head for a lawyer's office and retain counsel.

This is a common ploy used by spouses (mostly women) to get a leg up in the underlying divorce. Don't be too surprised if the next step is a domestic violence petition to kick you out of the house/apartment and to obtain immediate possession of the children.

You should discuss with counsel the best way to deal with it. However, don't ignore the matter. This could put your bank account and job at risk.

If you need additional information, I am available to discuss this matter further. [email protected]
