Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

Refuse to accept summons

My ex-husband owns a house in Georgia. He is planning to move to Vegas next week. He said he will not tell me where he lives. Therefore he will not be able to be sevred a summons and not have to pay child support. Is this true? Can I server it to his last know address?

Re: Refuse to accept summons

The best thing would be to file your case and get him served by private process server before he leaves. After he leaves, you may need to hire an investigator to track him down in Las Vegas. It is possible to serve him by publication, but the court's powers to address ceratin issues are limited without personal service.

Re: Refuse to accept summons

The better course of action would be to hire an attorney to file an action before the end of the week. My firm does this type of work. Please feel free to contact me in the event you wish to pursue my suggestion.
