Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia
Step Father threatening to go after custody of nonbiological child
My husband and I were married 9 years. He never adopted my daughter who is now 12 years old. When I left the marriage I moved my daughter and myself back to Canada (our home country). Now my husband is threatening to go after custody of my daughter because he says he can look after her financially better than I. My daughter does NOT want to live with him. Does he stand a chance of getting custody... by the way..... he is claiming bankruptcy.

Re: Step Father threatening to go after custody of nonbiological child
Under Georgia law, if he did not adopt the child, he has no rights to custody as a parent.
