Legal Question in Medical Leave in Georgia
Early leave for pregnancy
My job is extreemly stressful. I am due at the end of January with my second child. I am hoping to stop working as soon as I can due to the stress levels at work. Legally, how would I go about doing this? Is it considered short term disability? Will I still have my regular maternity leave there for me to take? With 10 more weeks to go, is it possible to get short term disability AND my maternity leave. Would a doctor releaving me of my job help? What would I need to tell my doctor to make it happen if it were possible? I feel like if I do not stop working soon, I will go into premature labor or possibly cause complications and I am trying to prevent this from happening, but I do not see a way out, and I don't know the right people to ask. I do not feel comfortable asking my employer because I don't want to seem like I am trying to take an easy way out. I feel like this is a serious situation that I need a little help on. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to prolong a healthy, full term pregnancy.

Re: Early leave for pregnancy
Concerns about your health should be discussed with your attending physician. You will need to comply with whatever your doctor recommends, regardless of whether your benefits cover it. If you think that you have benefits that cover any time away from work that your doctor orders, but the benefit plan is not forthcoming with payment, then it would be in your best interest to seek legal counsel.
