Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Georgia

Settlement

I recently went to small claims court. I(plantiff) and the defendants lawyer came to a settlement agreement regarding my personal Injury that I had in the defendants place if business. The attornery was instructed by the judge to draft a general release form for my signature. After receiving the form, it contains a lot of errors and stipulations and I am refusing to sign the form. Is there any legal advise that you can give me on how I am going to receive my settlement. Would it be legal if I draft my own general release form?

Re: Settlement

Most releases in injury cases tend to be standard, whether an lay person does their own case or even if an attorney is handling the case.

The defendant will likely not accept your release. If you have no confidence in the other side you likely need to have a professional review the release and answer your questions. Most attorneys would charge an hourly fee for doing this. If you know someone, they might help you gratis. It is not normally a lot of work to review a simple injury release.
