Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Georgia

Slander Suit

In a notarized, legal document, my father, who is deceased, has been accused of something he did not do and it can be proven that he absolutely without a doubt did not do it. Could the offending party be sued for slander or defamation of character?

Re: Slander Suit

It depends. What was stated or published; who published it; who read it or knew about it; what type of damages are being claimed.

Defamation cases are difficult, expensive and not favored by the legal system historically.

You will need an attorney and this type of case tends to be expensive.
