Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Georgia

Statute of Limitations for lawsuit

In 1993, I was involved in a traffic accident. I was at fault and did not have insurance. There were no injuries. The other driver sued me for damages. I never received any papers with a court date, so I never appeared. The judge ruled in the plaintiffs favor. I have not had any contact with the plaintiff in over 10 yrs. I never made one payment. My wages were never garnished. I am wondering what the statute of lim. is.

Re: Statute of Limitations for lawsuit

IN GENERAL, a judgment expires after 7 years. However, since you have concerns, the court records in the county where the suit was filed should be reviewed. Contact an attorney in that county.
