Legal Question in Immigration Law in Georgia
How would a change of citizenship affect my application for immigration to the USA?
I was born in the Caribbean and my mother started filing for me to immigrate to the USA. However the USA process has taken very long. I have since moved to Canada and eligible for Canadian citizenship. If I become a Canadian citizen, will this affect my application to become a USA permanent resident? Is it better to wait until I get the green card, then apply for my Canadian citizenship?

Hello:
It should have no effect.
It will not affect your waiting time because the country of your birth is what matters for a priority date and visa category determination (not the country of citizenship).
