Legal Question in Employment Law in Georgia

My boyfriend works for a company based in Georgia delivering home appliances in the southeast reigon. Last night he reported to his job ready to work like always. When he took his truck to get gas he noticed something was wrong with the steering. He immediately returned the truck to his job. His boss said the truck would have to go in the shop for service and sent him home. Shouldn't he get paid for the hours he is missing since it's the company's failure to provide functioning equipment that kept him from working?

An employer is only legally required to pay an employee for time that the employee works. It is not required to pay an employee for time that he might have worked if the equipment had functioned properly.
