Can an employer take you back after a serious medical condition without you being cleared by a medical doctor first?

Yes the employer can take you back without being cleared. If you are asking, however, whether an employer can require you to return to work after a serious medical condition, the answer to that would depend upon a n umber of factors relating to your condition and your rights under the Family Medical Leave Act. (FMLA).
