Can an employer suspend me for a week, threaten to fire me, and make me wait a week to see if i am fired or not

Do you have a contract that states otherwise? Most employment in GA is "at wil" and an employee can be terminated for any or no reason (with very few exceptions for discrimination). If an employee can be terminated in the spot, a suspension is certainly better than that. There is no general entitlement to a job.
