Legal Question in Employment Law in Georgia

Hire and Commission change

I was hired by a large corporation in Atlanta on a salary and commission structure. We had a long drawn out hire process as their offers were not acceptable and on the 3rd attempt we reached an agreement. However, 2 weeks after I was hired, they changed the commission base (not plan or structure, but base payout) to $8,000 lower than my total offer. I was never notified (as I was not on email or had a PC at the time) and feel like I was frauded into the job. What are my options? I have worked in sales for over 15 years and have been through changes, plan setups, etc. . . and understand the necessity of plan and structure changes, but never a just flat reduction in my cost base. It is like if I was hired and then 2 weeks later they said, hey, we aren't going to pay you what we offered. Please help as I would have never taken this job at this offer.

Re: Hire and Commission change

The answer depends on many factors - are you an employee or independent contractor, are you at-will employee, what are the terms of agreements in place, etc. If they are violating the agreement, then you probably have a valid claim.
