Legal Question in Employment Law in Georgia
A laptop was stolen from my employeer, the Department head scheduled a meeting to inquire about laptop. In the meeting the Department head threaten the staff that if she got fired for missing laptop she would also get someone else to get fired as well. Further she stated that someone had better give her an answer by the End of the Day. She had employees file into her office individually to question them. Is this illegal? I know the threat is.

Of course, your employer can investigate the theft of company property. That should be expected. I am not sure why you think it is somehow "illegal" for the employer to question employees about it, as a group or individually. Absent a contract or other protections in company policies, not only can the employer threaten to fire someone, they can actually do it. Again, you provide no facts to indicate such a threat is illegal. Employment in Georgia is at-will, and absent limited reasons for unlawful discrimination, employees can be terminated for any or no reason. You may have employment issues, but you raise no legal issues.
Scott Riddle is correct. The employer may be tactless, but she isn't lawless.
