Extended Stay Motel Threw away all my personal possession

I was paid in full until saturday. a friend of mine came to box up all my stuff on wednesday and was coming thursday to pick it all back up. upon his return the hotel manager stated that they cleaned up the room and disposed of all the property. i was still paid for 3 more days. now they claim they dont have any of my belongings can they do this? what can i do about it?

It is quite possible you have a claim against the hotel. More facts are needed, of course. However, if the value of the disposed items are not that high, you may consider filing a claim against the hotel in small claims court. In the meantime, is there anything in writing about what occured? It is quite possible a quick note to corporate headquarters and management with the value of each item may resolve the issue. You may also want to contact the police and file a report for what may be considered theft of items.

As always it is better to start on this as soon as possible.
