Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Georgia
My landlord negotiated a new 5-year lease with me a few months ago. Now he is asking us to move by May 31, 2010. He is trying to sell the house, and is allowing realtors to bring people in at any time without notice. A lockbox has been placed outside and they have entered the residence without even ringing the bell.
Can he do this? What are our options, legally?

Depending on the wording of the lease, you may be able to block the sale. Contact a local attorney ASAP. If you would like to discuss this with me, please give me a call.
If it's 5 years, at the least, you may want to file the lease in the land records.
This will put any purchaser on notice that you have a 5 year interest in the property.
Moreover, you should read the lease regarding changes in ownership and interference with quite enjoyment. You may be able to stop the realtors from bursting into the place without notice.
A lawyer may be able to protect your rights by writing a cease and desist letter to the realtor and the owner. At a minimum, you will be able to obtain notice before entrance.
