Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Georgia
I live in an apartment community and will be breaking my lease and relocating. According to my landlord and the terms of the lease, I must give 60 days notice and then pay a relet charge equivalent of one month's rent. The relet charge seems high; is it a legal and enforceable amount?

It is the same amount that you agreed to when signing the lease. Often, the penalty is more than a month's rent so while it may "seem high" to you, it is on the low end.

I agree with Attorney Riddle. Your charge is on the low end, and is perfectly legal and enforceable. Depending on the length of the lease, the landlord could have included a 2-3 month early move out charge. .
