If it happened in Florida, you need to re-post to Florida lawyers, not Georgia. Things fall, and accidents happen. That does not always mean someone else should pay for it.

Not clear from your post whether this happened in Florida or Georgia? If your son was not at fault, then he may very well have a claim against the owners of the condo or the manufacturer of the lamp. There are not enough facts in your post to give any definite advice. You should be aware that Georgia has a two-year time limit for filing suit and Florida has a four-year time limit for filing suit.
