Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Georgia
we bought our house 2006. found out in 2016 that the septic system was never approved and was put in illegally prior to 2003 and the house was built 1992. They want us to pay to hook to city sewage at 12500.00. what are our options?

Unfortunately, probably none. Any claims you might have had versus the builder or prior owner or even a home inspector at closing would have long since expired. Given the cost involved, and the situation, you have a political rather than legal problem, that your city officials could solve or limit if they chose to. It may pay to spend time with your mayor and council to see if they would cut any deal, since having you as an enemy in the next election is your best leverage.
