Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in Georgia

Sexual Harassment

I have a female friend who works at applebees. She is being harassed, physically and verbally. She talked to the manager and he told her to stop being bitchy and suck it up. He grabbed her hand and made her shake hands with the harasser to make up. What can she do to resolve this since the manager did nothing. She wants to quit her job because of this.

Re: Sexual Harassment

There should be attorneys in your area who could talk to her about her claim and how to properly articulate her case before the EEOC. Of course, she can go to the EEOC without an attorney. (www.EEOC.gov). However, an attorney who has experience with sexual harrassment matters can ask her about the steps she has taken thus far; whether she has complied with the employee handbook regarding reporting harassments; whether there are witnesses; etc. There are pitfalls and warnings an attorney can educate a person about before filing a charge with the EEOC.

The EEOC should also still have an up to date list of employment attorneys. She can call around and find an attorney in her area who she feels comfortable.
