Does a will have to go in probate and if so for how long

If a will has to go into probate how long is the probation in the state of Ga. what circumstances causes a will to go into probate and why would it or would it not have to go into probate

In Georgia, when a person dies leaving a will, the will should be filed in the Probate Court of the county of residence.

That is not the same as petitioning the court to probate the will. That should be done if assets pass under the will - and an attorney could advise you on this. It is not a question which one can answer generally, but would require specific legal advice.
