Re: Granparent Adoption

You are going to need a lawyer in the domicile of the child. Hopefully you can find some help from an attorney in that jurisdiciton at this website.

Re: Granparent Adoption

1-Do I get a lawyer in Fla. or Ky? A- FL (where child is),

although KY counsel may be able to help coordinate matters with

FL attorney

2 - How long should this take? A- Needs answer by FL attorney

3 - How expensive? A- Probably very costly, unless current

guardian agrees.

4-Should I go for the full adoption or just guardianship?

Adoption would give you the full rights of a parent; guardianship could be removed

without the necessity of terminating parental rights (e.g., for neglect or abuse), which would be required if you became the adoptive parent.

GOOD LUCK!
