Legal Question in Business Law in Illinois
Customer has not paid for services - had concern fixed elswhere. Billing me now
We installed a strobe system on a truck. customer noticed wires hanging down around rear tire. My installer did a poor job. (since fired) I offered to fix it for him at no charge and agreed to visit a body shop he had the truck in to fix it there. I sent him a $50.00 gift certificate for dinner and he still refuses to pay. Had the wires fixed elsewhere and now send me the bill. I even agreed to reduce my $750.00 bill by the amount of the repair. still wont pay.
What law relates to a customer having it fixed somewhere else and sending me a bill?

This is called substitute performance under contract. I believe that he may have a good case to collect if he ever sued you.
