Legal Question in Business Law in Illinois
Medical bills after death?
My friends husband died of cancer. He had no insurance. His medical bills are around $100k. He himself, prior to his death, signed off on all the bills. No one else signed any papers prior to his admittance to the hospital.
My question is this; Does his wife or children have to pay off these medical bills, even though they never signed any papers?

Re: Medical bills after death?
The question here is that his estate is liable for these bills. Whatever his assets were at his death, then these are used to pay all bills upon death. Usually if the heirs of the estate accept the assets of the estate they become liable for the bills and other obligations as well.
