Legal Question in Construction Law in Illinois

Painting Proposal

If you get a proposal for work to be done in your home, and never signed it or put down any monies. Are you still binding for work to be done because you talked it over with contractor?

Re: Painting Proposal

Just because you asked a contractor to look at your house about painting, it does not mean that you are obligated to take his services.

I can only speak in general terms sice you did not furnish any specifics.

Re: Painting Proposal

Let me add though that, depending on the circumstances and where you are located, a contract need not be written.

Meaning, if you talked about price and work details with a contractor and specifically said "yes you are hired." You might have needed to tell him you changed your mind when he sent over a written contract, otherwise you may still be obligated.

This also depends on whether or not the work has already been done.

If you want to talk about the details, please feel free to give us a call.
