Photocopies
Is is lawful for a photographer, hired to make photocopies of old family pictures, to make and keep the negatives for future photo sales?

Re: Photocopies
Seems an odd thing for a photographer to want to do. A professional photographer, better than anyone else, should appreciate the ownership, value, and copyright of photographic images. What you are suggesting is depriving the copyright owner of the value of their images for your benefit. Not only that, but I can see no difference between what you suggest and a photo lab making extra copies and selling them on the side. Just seems wrong all around. The photographer should talk to the owner of the images, get a WRITTEN agreement with them, and share the wealth. Those images are NOT the property of the photographer.
