Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Illinois
My mom is 74 years old and she got a summons for a loan she got about 5 years ago. Her only income is my dad's pension which is not that much and social security. What do we do? We live in Illinois

If she owes the money there m ay be no defense. If all she has in that incod she may well be judgment proof. Does she own any assets, such as a house or a car - those may be at risk, bit income from social security and pension are exempt from creditor's claims

At the very least, schedule an appointment for a consultation with an attorney near where your mother has to go to court.
