Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Illinois

non payment of boat repair

I did a repair job on a boat for a lady whick required motor work, cleaning hull after being in the water for three years and repairing three holes in it. Since then the lady sold her property and asked me to store the boat. This was three years ago. She once stated that she would like to give the boat to charity but I have heard nothing from her since. I have written her several times with no answer. I aske d her if she would like to settle the bill by giving me the boat instead of paying the bill for it's repair but have recieved no answer. Is there any way that I can get the boat for what is owed me.

Yes. Illinois law has a couple of ways you could go about this, based on either the work you did, or for your storage of the boat. Enforcing these liens is rather technical--not exactly a do it yourself job in my opinion. Contact ann attorney to steer you through these shoals.
