Can a Railroad Retirement check be garnished for a old creditcard debt that the card company has written off some time ago and has been sold off 2 or 3 times to a collection outfit.

generally, retirement pay is exempted. but before your check gets garnished, the creditor has to sue you and get a judgment. have you been served with a summons and if so, did you appear in court to defend the lawsuit? to discuss further, i can be reached at 312-372-5600.
