Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Illinois

I received a letter from a company that now owns a debt I had with another creditor saying I was served with a lawsuit but I was never served with any documents. Company wants me to call to try and resolve this matter before a judgment is entered against me. Again, I was never served. Should I contact this company anyway?
