Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Illinois

I worked as a credit card fraud investigator and worked a case that belong to a long time friend. The charges in question belong to a credit card com that since then merged with the company i'm working for. We both tried and called the company to claim fraud but was declined when they said they have called her phone and someone pressed a button to verify that the charge was valid. Now I got fired from my work and my friend was being demanded to pay for the charges that was credited to her account and was told she will get arrested if she does not. The proof that they have is an email between me and her saying that I took care of her account and that me being the investigator, my actions will not be reversed. There's nothing in the email that states that I think the charges were indeed valid and not fraud in nature. Can the bank have her arrested for something that she believes is indeed fraud? Will taking responsibility for it be the best solution? why pay for something that she did not do tho?

if the police thinks there is sufficient evidence of a crime, they will make an arrest and then the person arrested will have to defend the criminal case. having said that however, collectors generally will say anything to get you to pay them. if you want to discuss further, i can be reached at 312-372-5600.
