Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois
If a 20 year old first offender is arrested for shoplifting, is merandized and fingerprinted and writes up a statement of guilt, what is his legal recourse? Is is possible to have the charges dropped? If so, how?

The person charged with shoplifting should hire a criminal defense attorney. The attorney may be able to defend the charge, or may need to negotiate a plea bargain which will hopefully allow this person to avoid a conviction on his or her permanent criminal record.
