Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois
I was caught selling marijuana in college and I ended up cooperating with the police and the only thing they did was seize the money and it was forfeitured. I did not try to fight it or anything went to court etc. I just received mail saying that the money was finally declared for forfeitured. Will the forfeiture stay on my record and what the forfeiture was for?

Forfeiture is a civil proceeding. There is no criminal record of a forfeiture; however, there is a record of all cases filed, whether it is civil or criminal. There is a record of your arrest ("rap sheet") and court disposition of the criminal case. The criminal case may be eligible for sealing or expungement--depending on what were convicted of and the the disposition.
