Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois
Can a misdemeanor shoplifting charge be kept off your record?
1 Answer from Attorneys
Depends the stage of the proceeding - you were just arrested? You were tried and convicted? What? And what do you mean by record? Criminal? Civil for damages? Credit? And your age may make a difference if you were a minor. You need to be much more specific in the details. And just so you know, if it goes on your "criminal" record there is such a thing called expungement which can remove it after enough time passes....Thanks.
