Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois

I got pulled over today November 2, 2010 the police officer claimed i was driving to close to another vehicle. As i was being pulled over the officer claimed i was figiting around. I pulled over and the officer caim to the passenger window and right away said "what is that under your pants? what where you hiding?" I said "nothing its a piece of my pack of cigarettes" which it was the officer claimed i was tring to hide something which i wasnt, i was just looking for my liscense. The officer then told me to step out of the car he searched me found nothing then put me in the back of his car. He then procceded to question me on what i was doing and where i was heading. He wrote me a warning for driving to close to the car he then asked me if he can search my car. I politley refused but then he claimed because i was figiting around he had the right to search my car. He asked me if there was anyuthing he would find i Immediatley told him i had 3 bag of heroin in the car and he because they where just in my center console. He also claimed he would be easy on me if i told him.

He came back saying that i will be getting arrested unless i help him out. He proceded to question me on drug dealers i know and if i can help him bust someone. The officer said all the people i had where not even worth busting. This questioning took about an hour or more as we talked and i kept trying to help. In the end he took down my information and told me he will let me go he then said i have 5 days to find someone i can give them good information on if i do not help he will comme arrest me. He then took me to my car and made me dump out all the bags and throw them away.

This all happend on the highway in west side of chicago, il. The officer was waiting on the highway entrance and got on the highway about a min after i did. My question is can he still arrest me after 5 days with no evidence?

Let me get this right: you get pulled over for what may have been a fabricated reason? The officer, based on your behavior, seems to have articulated enough probable cause to further investigate beyond the original traffic stop. You then admitted to transporting herioin. Did the officer follow up on your admission at the scene? In any event, you admitted to a federal felony and the officer can indeed follow up on this 5 days later, though that seems to me to be bad, but no illegal, police work.
