Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois

I was recently smoking a blunt of marijuana in my apartment when a police officer came to my door to ask about a fight that was going on next door. The officer smelled the marijuana aroma and asked me if I had anything else in my apartment and if he could search my house. There was nothing in my apartment other than the remaining half of the blunt I was smoking and a shoe box with some marijuana seeds and crumbs from when I used to break down marijuana to smoke. I thought nothing of the shoe box because it was only seeds in there. When he was done searching he said that he has 18 months to charge me with what he found which was a half of a blunt that was not more than a gram and the shoe box with marijuana seeds. He then said that someone would be contacting me soon and that I should cooperate. What are the charges that I can get from this case and what should I do. Can you please help me.

You could be charged with cannabis possession.

If the officer asks if he can do something you should almost always say "No".
