Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois

I worked for a short term loan company. The company fired me and said it was an at will termination. Then like 2 hours later i recieved a text from my supervisor saying that i stole money. She said that i wrote checks out of office money and cashed them in my cash drawer at work. So i would have forged a check and signed someone elses name to a legal contract. She says that i did 3 of them. What am i suppose to do and if found guilty what would likley happen total dollar amount is less that 1500.00. The police called today and asked me to go to the station tommarow.

I would get a lawyer right away and not speak to the police until you have one. If you cannot afford a lawyer, tell the police you want but cannot afford a lawyer. If they arrest you, they are required to provide you with counsel if you cannot afford counsel. Again, DO NOT SPEAK WITH THE POLICE. If you think you can clear this up by being cooperative, you are being follish and not doing yourself any favors.

The above response is absolutely correct. You must not answer any questions for the police. In fact, I would decline even going to the police station. If they have enough evidence you will be charged with a crime and a arrant will be issued for your arrest. You can then turn yourself in voluntarily or wait to be arrested. Once in custody you will be given an opportunity to post bail. An attorney can make this process quicker and easier for you and then represent you in the criminal case. I have handled many similar cases and I have often been able to avoid the criminal prosecution altogether by helping to arrange for restitution of any missing funds. You should definitely hire an attorney as soon as you possiboy can do so. I may be able to offer my services to you for a reasonable fee. Please feel free to contact me for a free telephone consultation.
