Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois

I have recently been talking to a girl I met on a website. Her profile stated she was 18 years old and I assumed this was accurate.

We flirted pretty heavily back and forth and exchanged phone numbers. We talked about meeting/hooking up. I decided that I should ask her if she could prove how old she was before anything else happened. She informed me that she was 17 and turning 18 at the end of this month. Knowing that the age of consent in Illinois is 17, I assumed this was okay.

We continued to flirt through text messaging. I assumed I wasn't allowed to send her any adult pictures so I sent her one of my stomach. I thought this was PG-13 and completely legal. I asked if she could send a picture back that was comparable. She responded by sending several pictures ranging from clothed to completely nude. I deleted them immediately and informed her we can no longer communicate.

Could I end up in court over this? Could I become a registered sex offender?
