Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois
I was told by a loss prevention associate at a local costco that I needed to return anything else that I had stolen as I had been caught with a 150 dollar camera that was particially open. I have not record or anything and I am 35 years old. I told him that I had two Blue Ray DVD's that were not paid for as the cashier missed them on my last visit. He wanted me to meet him at a later time to return the DVD's I did not know they were in the cart and instead of going back and paying for them I just kept them. They were worth a total of 20.00 dollars. I think he is trying to set me up. Should I meet him I called a lawyer and he said that I would not have to worry about the camera as I would be eligible for a class and then would have my record sponged off. I did not tell him about the DVD's because I did not steal them I did not know they were still in the cart as they had been under a bag of dog food. Should I go and return the two DVD's or should I contact my lawyer and tell him what he wants me to do. I was going to wear a wire as they employee seemed like he did this on a regular basis..

Do not have any further conversations with the Costco employee. Do not go there. Hire the attorney and be careful not to get wet when they "sponge off" your record.
