Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

30 day response

My friend was served with divorce papers on 10/20/04 and never hired an attorney he did not respond to the 30 day petition. I looked up on the Cook county web site and he has a progress hearing on 02/09/05 that he was never told about. Should he show up to this hearing since he never responsed to the petition ? He doesn't have the money to hire an attorney does he have any options?

Thanks

Re: 30 day response

Hello. Your friend should show up in court. He

can contact the Legal Assistance foundation. Their fees might be affordable, but he should

definitely come to court.
