Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois
abduction / runaway
legally adopted dd age17 allegedly abducted from Eastern Europe where she was sent to attend school. dd was allegedly brought back by a charitable organization w/o our knowledge or approval. The charity then had 1 of its employees transport our dd across state lines DC to MD. This same organization is allegedly paying this family to raise our dd. As soon as i found out dd was missing, called police & started searching for her. W/in hours I found her. I then called & the family she was with refused to allow me to speak to her. They hung up & refused to answer our calls. We went to the police & they traced the # sent PD to where she was & dd refuses to come home. Dd is now being harbored as a runaway by this family. They want us to give them temporary guardianship of her. What can we do? Our attorney says no to temp guardianship. What legal recourse do we have. Daughter is claiming we abandoned her & who knows what else. FYI- she self injures, she has Oppositional Defiance Disorder, possible split personality, possible Fetal Alcohol sydrome, has juvenile record of domestic battery, other kids (infant and 6yr old) in home were then placed 24hr required supevision by dd's counselor

Re: abduction / runaway
Why are you posting this question to an anonymous legal bulletin board rather than talking to the police who helped you find your daughter in the first place? If they won't help you then you need to contact the FBI since this is an apparent abduction across state lines.
