Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois
DSS in south carolina gave us cusoty of our grandchildren 1 1/2 years ago, we live in Illinois. the children have resided in Illinois for 2 years; all three parents live in Illinois. the mother wants to file for custody; we do not object to this she did her treatment and has pulled her life together. Illinois said this is a South Carolina case. South Carolina says it's an Illinois case. What do we do. All the parents, children and grandparents live in Illinios

Under the UCCJEA, it is a South Carolina case unless and until SC cedes jurisdiction to an Illinois court. File something in IL, ask to court to confer regarding jurisdiction with SC court who will then cede jurisdiction to IL
