Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

My girlfriend and i have a 14mo old who was taken by dcfs and is currently pregnant with our 2nd child. she is due before our case will be closed. my concern is that I have a prison record and have been admitted to 2 different state mental centers in my life and she has no record or mental health issues. the allegations were that I have threatend my girlfriend and was said that we beat our 14mo old daughter. We left before we knew that a case had been opened by dcfs. we still live in the same state but moved many cities away. Would it be better for us to fight together as a family to get our daughter back or would it be better if I were to leave due to my mental health and prison record until she regains custody of our child? we are currently not married and could the state use my mental health and prison records against us to keep our child?
