Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

My mother, who lived in Chicago, IL died recently. She left no will, has five children, a home and some assets. What steps should be taken next?

You'll need to open a probate estate to recover her assets and deal with the home which will probably have to be sold unless one of the children is able to take over the mortgage and buy out the others. You're going to need an attorney for this and I would be happy to discuss it with you.
