Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois
I am currently the respondent in a plenary order of protection in IL. If the petitioner files for an extension when it expires, how will I know? must I be served with papers? what if they are unable to locate me?

If the Petitioner filed for an extension, then you will be served the papers either via personal service, regular and/or certified U.S. mail, or facsimile to your last known address of record. It's usually best to prearrange when/where you're going to receive the paperwork so that you have everything they've filed. Otherwise, and order may be entered without you even knowing (which you are still on the hook for).
This is not legal advice and I am not your lawyer.
