Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois
Restraining orders and guardianship by "family" members
My "family" interfered with my custodial rights and the judge in Cook County agreed and granted a restraining order against each member that took her. I did not have an attorney. As a result on the 17th they filed for "guardianship" and full custody of my daughter's estate (I'm guessing this includes her trust fund they control) and any other income/proceeds she might earn? HOW is it POSSIBLE that they have the right to sue for my daughter when both myself and my ex-husband have every intention of raising her and accdg to the law they have no "standin"? I'm confused

Anyone can file a petition for guardianship in Cook County. Whether or not the judge grants what they're asking for in the petition is up to that judge.
