Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

My son who is 13 years old is being accused of a sexual act with a 10 year old boy. Ive talked to my son repeatedly about this and he swears he has not done anything like the accusation..ever..My question is that now I have a detective contacting me wanting to talk to my son and I want to know what are legal rights are. Does he have to talk to them? If we cant afford a lawyer and we decided not to talk to the cops, can he still be charged? What steps do I need to take to protect my son from this horrific accusation.

never talk to the police. why help them to convict your son. even if you do not talk to the cops, your son can still be charged and he will have to defend the case in court. if you want to discuss further, i can be reached at 312-372-5600.
